Creative Car Parks are delighted that Medway Council has won the 2010 On-Street Parking Team of the Year at this year’s British Parking Awards.
This award category was sponsored by Creative Car Park. This was just one of 16 awards presented at the British Parking Awards 2010, which took place at the InterContinental on Friday 12 March. The winners were revealed to an audience of over 500 people by leading impressionist Jon Culshaw. The annual event celebrates best practice within the parking industry.
Gary Wayne, Managing Director of Creative Car Park, said, “I am proud to sponsor this award category. The standard on entrants for British Parking Awards gets better each year and reflects the growing level of professionalism within the parking industry. Medway is an excellent example of best local authority practice and I hope other authorities will aim to set such high standards for their services.”

Medway Council’s successful safety scheme
At the same time as implementing new powers within The Traffic Management Act 2004 on 31 March 2008, Medway Council in Kent also adopted approved CCTV surveillance equipment for parking enforcement. It was the first authority outside of London to introduce such approved devices and set an example for other authorities to follow.
The adoption of mobile CCTV equipment was prompted by the ongoing issues and safety concerns associated with the parking of vehicles when parents were dropping off or collecting their children outside schools the service has been an example of good partnership working.
