IBIS hotel at Luton stops airport users misusing hotel car park

The IBIS Hotel at Luton Airport has instructed the help of specialist car park management company, Creative Car Park, to help stop non-hotel guests from mis-using their car park facilities and to ensure there are sufficient spaces for hotel guests and business delegates.

Located on Spittlesea Road just a ten minute walk from Luton Airport, The IBIS Hotel, part of the Accor Group, provides parking for up to XX vehicles. However, the busy hotel, which not only accommodates guests staying over prior to catching a flight, but also facilitates business meetings and seminars, frequently finds the car park being used by people who are going to the airport, but who are not using any of the hotel’s facilities.

To tackle the problem and ensure the hotel has enough available parking hotel guests, business delegates and staff, Creative Car Park, has provided a solution by installing an ANPR system (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) to monitor the car park.

On entering the hotel, customers will now be asked to key in their car registration number into a touch-screen keypad located at the hotel reception desk, which has been integrated with the hotel’s reservation system. It will charge guests to park for the time they are using the hotel facilities.

The contract to manage the car park was awarded to Creative Car Park because of the company’s experience in adapting established parking management systems to the bespoke needs of individual sites. Creative Car Park has already installed a similar system at the Ibis Heathrow Hotel earlier in the year, which was experiencing similar problems, and it has had an extremely positive impact for the hotel. A spokesperson for Creative Car Park says “The management personnel at The IBIS Hotel were keen to uphold the needs of their guests but also ensure their car park was being used for the right purpose and maximum availability. The hotel simply doesn’t have the capacity to allow non-guests to use their car park. Our operations and surveying teams have worked together to devise a parking system which everyone will benefit from.”
