Today, on International Women’s Day, Creative Car Park is celebrating the achievements and contributions of women across our business and beyond.
This day is a moment to recognise women in life and in business, across every industry. The parking sector has traditionally been seen as a male-dominated field, but today women are playing an increasingly important role – bringing experience, expertise and fresh perspectives to the opportunities and challenges shaping our industry.
At Creative, women contribute to every area of the business, from client services and operations to compliance, marketing and leadership. To mark the special day, we invited a number of our colleagues to share their thoughts on what this day means to them, the women who have inspired them, the advice that shaped their careers, and more.
What International Women’s Day means
International Women’s Day is seen as a celebration of women’s achievements and a moment to reflect on progress toward equality. Many describe it as a time to honour those who have paved the way, and highlight the continued effort needed to build a more inclusive world.
As Anca explains, it’s “a celebration – a joyful occasion that recognises women’s achievements, as well as the ongoing fight against discrimination.” Others emphasise empowerment and collective progress. Charuta describes it as “a celebration that rewards women’s achievements, highlights the difficulties they face, and pushes for a more inclusive world.”
It’s also an opportunity to acknowledge progress. “Times have changed significantly,” says Lesley. “Early in my career I was often the only woman around the table. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, while acknowledging there is still more to do.”
The women who inspire us
One theme appeared again and again in our conversation: family.
For many colleagues, the biggest inspiration came from their mothers – women who demonstrated resilience, kindness and determination while balancing family and work.
As Charuta says: “The woman who inspired me most is my mum. She always fought against all odds, standing strong for her beliefs while taking care of her family all by herself.”
Gesa reflected on the quiet strength that shaped her confidence: “My mum has always been my biggest supporter and my loudest cheerleader. My success is rooted in her love and the unwavering faith she has always had in me.”
These personal influences continue to shape the way many of our team approach their careers today.
Advice that stays with us
When asked about the best career advice they’d received, the answers were simple but powerful. Some spoke about the importance of continuous learning, others about trusting your instincts and aiming high.
As Anca put it: “I’m reminded of the importance of continuous learning and taking risks without fearing failure. If you have true passion for the field you work in, combined with perseverance, anything can be achieved.”
Gesa agrees, encouraging colleagues to “own your strengths, trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid to aim high.” For many, success is not only about professional achievements but also about balance, growth and making a positive difference.
Looking to the future
Across our business, women contribute their skills, ideas and leadership every day.
Talking about the experiences for women in our industry over the years, Lesley has seen positive change. “More women are stepping into senior roles and having a stronger voice. Creating a culture where both men and women feel empowered to prioritise family helps normalise shared responsibilities. I believe having the flexibility to manage both work and family life leads to better leadership, better decisions, and a healthier working culture for everyone.”
International Women’s Day is a chance to reflect on how important it is to create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to grow, succeed and support one another.
At Creative Car Park, we’re proud of the brilliant women across our teams who help shape our business and the wider parking industry.
