Holiday Inn stops Norwich airport users mis-using hotel car park

The Holiday Inn Hotel at Norwich International Airport has instructed the help of specialist car park management company, Creative Car Park, to help stop non-hotel guests from mis-using their car park facilities and to ensure there are sufficient spaces for their fitness centre members and hotel guests.

Located on Cromer Road next to the terminal building at Norwich airport, The Holiday Inn, part of the Kew Green Hotel Group, can provide parking for up to 300 vehicles. However, the busy hotel, which not only facilitates meetings and conferences for up to 500 delegates but also has an onsite members health and fitness centre, has found their car park is being frequently used by people going to the nearby airport, but who are not using any of the hotel’s facilities.

To tackle the problem, yet continue to provide a free service to hotel guests, business delegates and gym users, Creative Car Park, has provided a solution by installing an ANPR system (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) to monitor the car park.

On entering the hotel, customers will now be asked to key in their car registration number into a touch-screen keypad located at the entrance to the hotel, gym and conference rooms, which will then entitle them to park for as long as they are using the hotel facilities,

The contract to manage the car park was awarded to Creative Car Park because of the company’s experience in adapting established parking management systems to the bespoke needs of individual sites. A spokesperson for Creative Car Park says “The management personnel at The Holiday Inn Hotel were keen to uphold the needs of their guests and members but also ensure their car park was being used for the right purpose to ensure maximum availability. The hotel simply doesn’t have the capacity to allow non-guests to use their car park. Our operations and surveying teams have worked together to devise a parking system which everyone will benefit from.”

Kew Green Hotels group have been extremely impressed with the effectiveness of the new system and are now liaising with Creative Car Park to roll out similar management systems within their other hotel car parks.
