Creative Car Park has become the first company to sign up to The British Parking Association’s (BPA) Charter for Higher and Further Education Parking. The Charter is aimed at both managers of higher education facilities and car park operators and has been designed to strike the right balance between being fair to students, visitors and staff whilst ensuring facilities are managed effectively for the good of everyone.

The BPA are keen for both to recognise the importance of car parking policy in terms of the wider transport strategy and the need to manage traffic and parking in line with demand and environmental needs.

On being presented with the brief, a spokesperson for Creative Car Park said “The Charter aims to increase public confidence in parking and parking management through the setting and raising of standards across the sector, all of which are principles that we are fully in agreement with, which made the decision to commit to this campaign an easy one.”

The BPA say that whilst many people attending universities, either as students or visitors, expect car parking to be free, the limits on space, costs involved and demand for spaces means that car parking needs to be managed properly. Often the most effective way to do this is by charging for parking.

“We fully support the idea that providing, managing and charging for parking at higher education facilities will help relieve the strain on resources and should be seen in the context of delivering a better and fairer service to users. We are proud to be supporting the BPA with this” says Creative Car Park.
